Imbolc ~ Circling Together ~ Celtic Holiday ~ Gathering ~ Celebration ~ Ceremony

imbolc image.JPG

This Celtic holiday is especially sacred to the Celtic Fire Goddess, Brighid, patron of smithcraft, healing, midwifery, and poetry. It is the festival of the Maiden, for from this day to March 21st, it is her season to prepare for growth and renewal. Imbolc means, “In the belly of the Mother” because that is where seeds are beginning to stir as it is Spring. It is the time of Blessing of the seeds. It marks the center point of the dark half of the year. During this gathering, celebration and circling together, we will join in ceremony around a Celtic candle wheel, enjoying scents of wisteria, cinnamon and violet, creating Imbolc symbols to bring the honoring of Mother Earth into our homes and onto our altars. We will share seeds and teas from the Earth. We will explore the well celebrated days of Groundhog Day and Valentine’s Day and their roots in Imbolc. As with all Celtic festivals, Imbolc involves a host of unique customs and rituals to welcome the spring, say farewell to the winter, ward against evil and promote health and wellbeing. With these tenets in mind, we will gather and celebrate Mother Earth, we can't wait to welcome you and circle together.
